Callipeƒ¿

Metran's pursuit of friendly-to-patient-and-clinician and cost-performance are materialized in Calliopeƒ¿.

Features

High Frequency Oscillation (HFO) Ventilation permits sufficient and sustained exchange of gas, in which stroke volume (tidal volume) is smaller than volume of anatomical dead space.

Smaller pressure fluctuation within thoracic frame reduces danger of tracheobronchial injury.

Smaller pressure fluctuation in alveoli gives less variation of blood pressure and intracranial pressure.

Calliopeƒ¿ uses piston-type (push-pull) HFO which reduces the problem of air trapping since inspiratory and exhalatory volumes are identical.

PaO2 and PCO2 are independently controlled by value of mean airway pressure and stroke volume respectively.

Piston HFO

Pressure oscillation is generated by reciprocal movement of piston. Pressure wave is sinusoidal which applies less strain on patient's lung.

Easy HFO setting

Actual pressure amplitude is shown in an indicator window that enables easy setting of stroke volume. Stroke volume and MAP are the only settings to be made for HFO respiratory management.

Pressure control ventilation (PCV) and Pressure support ventilationiPSVjare available

IMV ventilation mode of Calliopeƒ¿ is pressure control (PCV). Pressure support ventilation (PSV) is available. PSV is well-synchronized with patient's expontaneous breathing in order to reduce efforts at breathing and fatigue of ventilatory muscles. PSV is widely used as a therapy to facilitate weaning from ventilator too.

Three modes, one touch selection

Ventilatory modes can be changed merely by turning the selector switch.

Manual sigh can be selected manually

Manual sigh can be applied by pushing "manual sigh" button. Manual sigh is applied as long as the button is being pushed. Maximum is 10 seconds.

Smooth ventilation is attained by newly developed valves

Quick and accurate flow control required by PSV are provided by newly developed valves. Therefore Calliopeƒ¿ has a quickly response to patient's respiratory needs, making phase change to exhalation smoothly.

Safety and security design

Horizontally laid piston and magnetic joint.

The piston is removed easily from the ventilator for sterilization. Noise of HFO is reduced by use of a magnetic joint.

Dial verification function

An audible alarm is activated when any one of the setting dials or switches on the control panel is touched, in order to warn about any inadvertent setting change.

Automatic setting of airway pressure alarms

Airway pressure alarms are automatically preset around PIP, CPAP and PSV pressure settings for IMV and MAP setting for HFO. Airway alarm settings can be changed by UP and DOWN keys on control panel.

Impedance valve

Impedance valve restricts back flow to upstream and thus reduces waste of oscillation even when water chamber type humidifier is used.

External alarm display lamp

Easily recognized from a distance, a standard feature is a large alarm display.

Electronical mixer

Air and oxygen flow are independently measured and controlled by heated wire type flow sensors to get target FiO2. The system does not require gas mixer for blending.
